Last night (16/5/13) there were celebrations going on in Wilmington, Delaware, USA at the DuPont Packaging Innovation Awards. It was announced that pi global and ColaLife had won the Diamond & Special Award for ‘Food Security’ Winner Excellence in Innovation, Cost/Waste Reduction and Sustainability. Ballerina biscuits were originally launched in Norway in 1994 by Sætre, Norway’s only big player in the biscuit category at the time, and have since then established themselves as well-liked, all-rounder biscuits eaten at home with family as well as on coffee breaks with colleagues at work. Entry into the Norwegian market by big international brands in recent years has meant increasing competition and rapid loss of market share for Sætre’s brands including Ballerina.

Sætre wanted to regain lost market share by sharpening Ballerina’s positioning to a brand that “children love and the whole family likes.” They also wanted to create a strong umbrella brand that could comfortably incorporate frequent new product launches with different types of biscuits so as to create synergies between the original Ballerina hero product and new line extensions. … Continue Reading
